Since 1972, Cynthia Hawkins has consistently painted abstractly and in series, exploring diverse literary, philosophical, and scientific influences through work that is rich in color and meaning. For her first one-person exhibition at Paula Cooper Gallery, Hawkins will present new paintings from her ongoing series Maps Necessary for a Walk in 4D (2023–). In these works, the form of specific maps direct investigations into color and light, providing both an underlying compositional structure and a symbolic vocabulary that plays out on the surface. By manipulating the same maps within each work and across the series, Hawkins provides a consistent point of entry that guides the viewer to engage in extended looking.

Une enquête captivante sur les mystérieuses traces du chef-d'oeuvre Judith décapitant Holopherne, découvert à Toulouse et attribué au Caravage. En 2014, un tableau retrouvé dans un grenier près de Toulouse provoque une onde de choc dans le monde de l'art. Après examen, le cabinet d'expertise parisien d'Éric Turquin attribue cette Judith décapitant Holopherne à Michelangelo Merisi, dit le Caravage (1571-1610). Réalisé en 1607, le tableau est estimé entre 120 et 150 millions d'euros. L'État français classe alors l'oeuvre "trésor national" et interdit sa sortie du territoire pendant trente mois, jusqu'en novembre 2018. Mais son authentification divise les spécialistes internationaux.

Ce road trip à travers l'Angleterre est l'occasion de dresser un portrait de l'inimitable Martin Parr. Après cinquante ans de carrière, le photographe reste un véritable iconoclaste, à la fois critique et espiègle, qui donne à voir la société sous un angle aussi percutant qu'inattendu.

Anita Rogers Gallery is pleased to present ANTICLIMB, Phil Hale’s first major show since 2017, and his debut exhibition with the gallery. George Condo’s two-part exhibition, ‘Pastels,’ spanning galleries at both Sprüth Magers and Hauser & Wirth in New York City, offers a glimpse into the artist’s creative process and unbound inventiveness through the medium of pastel. Condo’s new works challenge the limits of improvisation within this medium—spontaneously deploying gesso, fields of color and dramatic pastel gestures, all without the benefit of preparatory sketches—to express various states of the human psyche. The artist embraces the act of abstraction within a figural framework in novel ways, materializing the fragmented, elusive nature of ineffable thoughts and feelings.
