    About Sebastien Arcouet :

Originally from the southwest of France, Sébastien Arcouet has been living in Marseille for more than 30 years and is a confirmed artist with multiple skills. Art is for him a driving force and drawing has guided him since childhood in his professional choices, always with the search for the pleasure of creating and meeting others, as well as the sense of human relations.

"Since the beginning of January 2020, I started these works on the city of Marseille. This pictorial project is based on portraits and landscapes painted with gouache. I take the liberty of approaching people to ask them if I can paint them, because the moment I meet them, whether or not I meet their gaze, it is the moment to do so. It may seem simpler with a landscape and yet for me, it is not. This nature and its sceneries may have always impressed me too much, or I didn't feel ready, not at the level. Very often we don't see the people and the landscapes. This painting project allows me to take the time to settle down, to explain to people the importance for me to capture these moments, their moments because I find them beautiful, simple. To paint people and landscapes while trying for a moment to stop time to perhaps accept to say to oneself that we sometimes go too fast and that it is good to know how to slow down, to look and to see, the landscapes and the people. With the confinement, my gouaches took another turn. I felt the need to paint the landscapes alone, as if nature had said "Move over, I'm posing".

    He also creates commissioned works.
