    About Floriande Cherel :

    Floriande Chérel, painter and architect.

From her studies (Marseille-Luminy ENSAM School of Architecture, Saint Luc Higher School of Arts, Liège, Belgium), she retains a fondness for spatial dynamics and the connections that weave between the landscape and oneself.

It's a story full of twists and shared dreams that leads her to win the Grand Prix of Architecture from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1999. She then takes part in the creation of the architectural firm Abaque, but realizes that the practice of drawing takes precedence for her. Time brings her passion for art back to the forefront: she teaches art history (ENSAV School of Audiovisual Media, Marseille), participates in artistic guidance in higher education (BTS Spatial Design, DENIS DIDEROT High School; "Project Logic" Workshop, ENSAM), and enters public teaching competitions in visual arts (CAPET, AGREGATION).

In 2006, Floriande Chérel definitively shifts her focus to the professional practice of visual creation, with a persistent intention to build bridges between the arts.

A member of the LA CONDAMINE community of artists, as well as several artistic collectives (MOSAIC, FEMMES EN IMAGE), she remains dedicated to the Salon d’Art Contemporain de Marseille (SIAC) where she has participated for over a decade (public prize in 2014 and 2019).

Open to innovative experiences, the artist has undertaken several projects that have left their mark: two collaborations with jazz pianist Romain Collin (site-specific creations in Marseille 2013 and Paris 2016), an installation (50th anniversary of the School of Architecture in Marseille); various scenography projects (Dôme de Marseille, Toursky Theater) as well as an artist residency in Colombia (Alliance Française, Pereira). More recently, her collaboration with the architecture studio A led her to create fresco decorations for the Church of Poggio di Nazza (Haute Corse) and to participate in public competitions as an artistic contributor.

Floriande Cherel regularly exhibits her work in the South of France. The Nouvel Vag gallery (Isle sur la Sorgue, Vaucluse) is currently showcasing her pieces (paintings, mixed media). Meanwhile, the Francony gallery presents her cutouts (sandwiched between glass panels).
